January 28, 2010
The Woodlands Center for Specialized Medicine is proud to host the kick-off meeting for Pensacola Relay for Life on Thursday, 1/28, in their new facility on N. Davis Highway. Dubbed the 'January Jubilee', the meeting will serve as the starting point for Pensacola's Relay for Life team to begin raising funds and gathering participants for their event on May 7-8 on the PJC main campus. This year's theme is "Research. Relay. Road", which points to Relay's goals of raising funds for cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services. All current and potential participants are encouraged to attend the meeting to learn about fund-raising and gathering new team members for the May event. Last year's Pensacola Relay event raised over $255,000 and hosted 111 teams with more than 3,500 participants.
Tonight's meeting will feature stories from cancer survivors and past team captains, as well as a brief presentation on the latest cancer treatments from Dr. Nathan Floyd, a Radiation Oncologist with Woodlands Medical Specialists. Pensacola Relay for Life chose to host the meeting at the new Woodlands Center based on their dedication to patient-focused cancer treatment.
