April 28, 2010, Pensacola, FL – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Starting Monday May 3rd, the Woodlands Center for Specialized Medicine in Pensacola will begin offering a full line of Breast Health Services to women in the greater Pensacola area. The physician-owned Woodlands is adding these services to give women in Pensacola an alternative to the standard experience for breast care.
“The facilities for our breast health services are unlike anything else offered in this area,” says Woodlands CEO Linda D'Amore. “We've created a truly unique and inviting experience.” D'Amore went on to describe the stress and discomfort typically associated with breast health tests, with everything from undressing for the procedure down to waiting for the results. “Mammograms and biopsies are typically stressful on women, but we've designed our experience to remove the negative elements and create a truly warm and inviting atmosphere.”
One such element to help this process go smoothly for patients is the addition of the Nurse Navigator, a supporting role that is meant to serve as a patient advocate and information source. The Woodlands has appointed Tracy Frank, R.N. to fulfill this new duty. “My role will be to serve as the support system to patients through the entire testing process; I educate them on everything from prevention and screening to the available treatment options should they need them,” states Mrs. Frank. Nurse Tracy is well-suited for this role, having battled stage 2 breast cancer herself in the late 90's. “There couldn't be a better person to serve as a patient advocate,” says CEO D'Amore. “Tracy has been in these women's shoes and can better serve them because of her experiences”. Nurse Tracy previously worked with the Hope Medical Group before they merged to become Woodlands Medical Specialists in 2009.
In addition to the unique experience, Woodlands also promises to offer greater accuracy and timely diagnostic test results. “All of our equipment is new and state-of-the-art,” says Andrea Turner, Imaging Center Administrator at The Woodlands. “We have invested in the newest imaging equipment in the area— including the GE Healthcare Senographe Essential Digital Mammography System —that is capable of detecting abnormalities that older machines can often miss.” In addition to new equipment, The Woodlands will also use their in-house pathologists to read the results and deliver a timely diagnosis. “Waiting for results can add to the stress exponentially,” adds Andrea. “With all of our specialists under one roof, we'll be able to quickly analyze tests and give the results back to patients sooner.”
Starting May 3, The Woodlands Center will begin offering the following Breast Health Services:
The Breast Health Services will be offered in conjunction with the Hematology-Oncology, Urology and Radiation Oncology services currently offered at The Woodlands Center for Specialized Medicine on N. Davis Highway in Pensacola.
Woodlands is now accepting appointments for Breast Health Services and will see their first patients on Monday, May 3, 2010. “It truly is something you have to experience for yourself to fully appreciate,” concludes CEO D'Amore.
